AirRadar 1.1 (Mac OS X)
What happened to closed (stealth) network ID?
I've been using version 1.0.5 which does a fine job of identifying closed (stealth) networks. A great help when it came to selecting a wireless channel which wasn't being used by anyone else within range...even if their network was stealthed. Today I d/l version 1.1 and find that stealthed networks are no longer being fingered. Why was that capability removed? I thought it was one of the best features of the software...if the user is interested in de-conflicting his/her network channel from nearby users. [alert admin]

I have two Apple AirPort Base Stations at home...one running in the 2.4GHz range and the other in the 5GHz range...both configured to run in the closed or "stealth" mode. Amazingly, this app finds and displays my 2.4GHz stealthed network and shows the correct channel although it indicates 0% signal strength. So it's quite handy for channel deconfliction from any other nearby networks, including stealthed networks. Neither iStumbler nor AirStumbler picks up my stealthed network. Also, AirRadar is significantly more sensitive than those two...when I go outside on my deck, it shows five additional networks that I didn't even know were in the vicinity. Too bad it doesn't ID networks in the 5GHz range as well. Highly recommended. And free. So how can you go wrong? [alert admin]

Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0r465 (Mac OS X)
What's the difference between the "Slim" and "Full" Player versions? After installing this update, I tested on the following site which reports I have the "slim" version. http://www.explorelearning.com/index.cfm?method=cCorp.dspTest And after further looking, I see Adobe does indeed list two versions: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/ But I don't see a comparison chart. Anyone know the differences? And I wonder why VersionTracker doesn't point to the Full version? [alert admin]

1Password 2.8.2 (Mac OS X)
Is the blue IP menu icon gone?
>> NEW Added an option to display top-level 1Password menu in the browsers Does this mean I can now get rid of that blue-blob IP menu-space-robbing "feature" added during the last update? I hope so! It served no useful function and took space (couldn't be removed) I needed for more important menu icons on my small-screen laptop. [alert admin]

Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Was the version number updated?
Where does the installer put this RawCamera.bundle? I thought it belonged here: /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle But when I checked after the installation, "Get Info" still shows me with version 2.0.6. [alert admin]

PostCheck 1.8.2 (Mac OS X)
Tried out the (nearly) full-functioning demo after I saw PostCheck mentioned on some forum more than a year ago. Got hooked on the convenience and bought a license. Glad I did. It's one of those niche-filling pieces of shareware I use frequently...every time I add an address to my Apple Address Book. I suspect sales would increase significantly if it were priced at $5 but I'm still happy I licensed it. BTW, Brian, you should work with MacUpdate to offer it for one day at half price on their daily special board and see if a lower price (with higher sales) maximizes revenue on your particular product. I just have a feeling that $5 is the sweet spot. [alert admin]

Gizmo 4.0.0.247 (Mac OS X)
Problems with version 4 (Gizmo5.app) on PPC Mac
If you have a PPC Mac, make sure this new version works before you delete the old version 3.1.2 (I didn't). In my case, it wouldn't connect (thus 'work') on the first Mac I tried...a G4 iBook. In fact, it wouldn't Quit either...had to use Force Quit. Time Machine to the rescue...went back an hour and Restored version 3.1.2. And the restored version worked perfectly again. Promptly trashed Gizmo5 assuming that it's only been vetted on Intel Macs. [alert admin]

Apple TV 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
v 2.0.2 downloaded & installed with no problems
Downloaded 2.0.2 over a 3.5 Mbps DSL line. The progress bar said eight minutes. I didn't time it but that seemed about right for the download plus another couple minutes for the restart and install. No issues noted. In fact, I can't see much difference at all. [alert admin]

IP Scanner 2.0b10 (Mac OS X)
I was mildly surprised that it doesn't recognize Apple TV (including the manufacturer!!) considering how long TV has been available. But, of course, it's not difficult to double click on the "Unidentified Device" and assign the proper name. [alert admin]

Sorry, I don't have an account there so I can't help you but I'd suggest stopping by the support forum to see if there's a known issue with that particular web site. Sounds like there's not though based on a previous post. Alternatively, drop an e-mail to Dave at Agile. Those folks are extremely helpful and quick to respond. http://agilewebsolutions.com/contact_us

Occasionally, you run across someone who who just doesn't have the intellectual capacity to read/understand user's manuals/help files; subsequently, they are unable to figure out what a piece of software is all about and how to use it to make their lives easier. You've just met one here who's universally gotten negative ratings for this rather telling post. Be sure you take note of the user name and block the display of further posts. This person's…

Love it. Simple, clean and it just works.
Wow, you must be one unlucky person! I haven't viewed a movie in ages which couldn't be ripped by the pay -- er 'donate' -- version of the current MTR beta, either outright or by using one of the movie-specific 'tricks' posted on the robust MTR forum. But if this app survives without MPAA legal challenge and they can beat DreamStream, maybe Gordy can move MTR to a straight shareware model without having to go through…

Thanks for the review! Doesn't seem to be a piece of shareware I care to try out unless further posts prove this one to be an aberration. I particularly don't like to support developers who won't respond to customer queries/complaints.

Since you keyed on "bootable nightly backups" as seeming to be the most important feature to you, could you please explain at least "one important feature" which you believe the five-star SuperDuper! left out at a quarter of the price of Synchronize! Pro? Because I sure haven't found any missing features...not a single one.

>> could have better integration Could you elaborate on that please? Because I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I started using SpamSieve after the freeware JunkMatcher stopped being updated and I don't know how it could be any simpler or better integrated. The auto-installer takes care of everything and the software is virtually hands-off for most people...unless the user has some special requirement. And then you go to the excellent SpamSieve Manual, or…
