Product Description:

Times Reader is a new, downloadable software application that lets you read The New York Times digitally, online or offline, in a paginated format as opposed to scrolling down a Web page. Times Reader lets you retrieve all the latest news and photos by "synching" data from the Web and downloading it onto your computer, so you can read the content even when you're not connected to the internet. You can adjust the font sizes for enhanced readability.

morbius
Microsoft knows the Times web site is among the most highly trafficked. A few large into a few pockets, and, lo- a reader designed only for this. Sad, tacky, under-handed. Typical.

First of all, the NY Times Marketing Department did not submit this beta listing to VersionTracker...I did.

As a long time subscriber to the NY Times, I have been using the Times Reader application in Windows via Boot Camp. While the Mac version is still not up to par with the Windows version, it is still a beta and one that's been in development for at least the past year. Microsoft has supported the development of this app, and it is a port from the Windows version which also uses Silverlight in lieu of Flash. I am happy to see it now available for the Mac and anticipate the app getting more refined in the near future.

The installer asks to download Silverlight. Silverlight for Macs? First, why? Second, how? Why is this application listed for Macs if it can't be installed? Am I missing some conspicuous step?
