Linkinus ReviewWorthless Pile of Turds - Version: 1.3, 8/5/2008 10:56PM PST

Registering Sucks Ass
This IRC client is almost completely worthless. While the idea of disconnecting the GUI from the back end sounds nice, it only makes sense when you can run the back end on some other box, most likely not a Mac. Can't do it.

Further, the back end code is retarded about connections. Every time I leave it for a few hours and come back, it has disconnected from all networks. No attempt is ever made to reconnect to any server. In fact, there is no option anywhere to auto reconnect to a server, a feature which is in every other half usable IRC client. No drop out occurred in Internet connectivity to cause the disconnects. What good is a back end that can run without the GUI if it can't stay connected with the GUI? The GUI is needed to push Connect All every few hours.

Also, it tries to phone home on every execution even with the check for updates disabled in the the preferences. Dev: stop writing shitty software that's sold at exorbitant prices and go back to sucking *censored* in an alley.

Linkinus looks ace and probably should be your choice if all you want to do with your computer is IRC: it takes up more than 50% of CPU time in my system.

If, like most people, you cant to do other things at the same time with your computer, get something with a smaller footprint.
